VEE Sales has the capability to read, write and verify RFID tags at the pallet and package levels.
VEE Sales is a processing and packaging company that does business primarily with the Department of Defense (DOD) for unique and difficult-to-locate supply items. VEE Sales has two large preservation, packaging, and multi-docked shipping facilities located in Tionesta, PA, and is fully compliant with MIL-STD-2073-1D, MIL-STD-129, and MIL-STD-130.
As with other DOD vendors, VEE Sales faced DOD mandates and requirements to implement radio frequency identification (RFID) in their packaging and labeling contracts. This meant the VEE Sales needed to quickly learn about RFID technology in order to keep their CAGE code status. VEE Sales engaged Distributed Network Software, LLC to implement and manage DOD RFID requirements.
Distributed Network Software, through the Center for eBusiness and Advanced IT, identified critical supply chain and warehousing functions that added RFID capability and increased the value to VEE Sales DOD contracts. Distributed Network Software analyzed VEE Sales supply chain processes and warehousing procedures then implemented an RFID solution.
The RFID solution for VEE Sales consisted of printing and verifying RFID labels. As easy as it sounds, DOD contracts required specific product and pallet information written directly to the RFID tag in very specific formats. This process required specialized software so Distributed Network Software integrated Miles Technology, CP Express software to fulfill this need. In addition to writing specific data to each RFID tag, verifying RFID tag information in the field was as critical to DOD mandates. The solution hardware consisted of:
Zebra R110Xi RFID 200D printer
Symbol MC9000-G handheld scanner
CP Express software from Miles Technology
Now, in addition to meeting MIL-STD-2073-1D, MIL-STD-129, and MIL-STD-130 standards, VEE Sales has the capability to read, write and verify RFID tags at the pallet and package levels. VEE Sales now offers RFID services to other DOD vendors as part of their complete supply chain solution.
